The TP Story

This image was taken for an assignment I'm doing in my Visualization class. We had to take a common item (either a shoe, a chair, or hands) and create a memorable image that tells a story. This is what I chose.

Hopefully this image will work for the teacher. :)

This image was taken the day after my visit to the ER. I decided to capture my life at the moment. I'm in the background hobbling away from the pills. Supposedly those pills are supposed to make me feel better. I think they're placebos.

I spent today in the ER after having managed to tweak my back and not being able to get off the floor. Luckily I managed to take this image prior to the experience and was able to keep with my daily image. Granted, it's a little late getting on the blog, but considering this is the first time I've managed to sit at my computer I don't think I'm doing too bad.

This image was created using High Dynamic Range (HDR) to completely capture the colors in the shadows and highlights. I thought I'd try it out using photoshop's HDR command.

This image was created for an assignment this week in one of my classes.

For this assignment I really wanted to create an image that touched people, made them think, feel and maybe even connect to their own lives in some way. (from the responses I've received in class from the other students I think I might have actually accomplished this--though I won't know for sure until the teacher "Zen Master David" grades and critiques it)

My husband and many of my friends have served and are currently serving overseas during the on going “conflict” with the Middle East.

While in the Middle East, their closest friends are their rifles and their Kevlar (helmets) that protect them. They gladly do their jobs, putting themselves in the line of fire.

When they come home (if they’re lucky enough to come home) they receive medals and commendations. Pretty baubles, if you will, for experiences that will never fade from their mind.

Though this image can’t show the true strength of our Men and Women of the Armed Forces, it shows the reason behind the pretty baubles that decorate their uniforms. I wanted (and hope I succeeded) to show how the two different parts merge together to create one.

The Kevlar and the desert Cami stand for the fighting, the loss of life, the true and hidden jobs of our military, and the shiny medals that would never be worn with those pieces of gear—stand for the pride, the respect, and the gratitude that we as American Citizens have for the Men and Women who have given their lives, their hearts, their sweat, and their tears standing for what we as a society believe in.

This image is part of a series I'm working on that will encompass the life in my town. I haven't decided yet whether the whole series will be in black and white, or if I'll do it in color or a mixture of both. All I know is that before I leave here I will have finished the series. :)

This particular image was created using three of the exact same image shot at different exposures using exposure bracketing. Doing this I was able to bring out more of the sunset colors, and the clearness in the water and still keep the trees in the background silhouetted as I saw them at the time I shot it.

I would love your comments.

Today I had to get back to (school) work-- and that took me to my favorite park at sunset. I really love sunsets.

February 7, 2009

This image was taken while I was in Amhert/Piney River, Virginia on Saturday (February 7). We (my partner in crime and I) saw this little man-made waterfall and had to stop en-route to the church where I was doing the photography for a wedding.

Just something a little peaceful and calm during an otherwise busy day.

I found a likely subject today (My cat-- excuse me, my "Owner" Raynah) to test out some new photo equipment I recently purchased. I figured, for just messing around this image turned out really great.

Today was a beautiful winter day and I found I couldn't help but take a moment to capture the beauty of the blue sky with its fluffy white clouds.
